Carmen was born in Valencia, Spain, to the proprietors of a small Chinese restaurant. At age 18, she pursued a degree in economics at Bryn Mawr College, PA in the United States only to realize that she really just wanted to make beautiful things, like clothes. Carmen went to study fashion design at Parsons in New York and in her junior year she won the national Geoffrey Beene Desgin Sholarship from the CFDA. Subsequently, she has appeared in American national media outlets such as The New York Times and npr, Carmen’s senior collection was runner up for the prestigious award of DOY (designer of the year) at Parsons and her work was shown at the annual Parsons Benefit Fashion Show. This last body of work has also received attention from international fashion press. Carmen’s dream is to start her own label to bring her art into more people’s lives.
